Yesterday, we welcomed students from the Alte Kantonsschule Aarau who got an introduction to nanoscience as part of a tech week organized by IngCH. After a brief theoretical session, the students explored various aspects of nanoscience through a hands-on experiment parkour — from atomic force microscopy (AFM) to the lotus effect, structural colors and UV-sensitive beads. They also gained insights into the interdisciplinary nanoscience study program at the University of Basel and experienced real research on the nanometer scale during a lab tour.
The visit was part of a tech week organized by IngCH, which gives young people a glimpse into various technical and scientific fields.
A big thank you to Kerstin Beyer-Hans and Battist Utinger for putting together and presenting the exciting experiments, to Aleksandr Kharchenko for his fascinating talk about his research, to Antoine Hinaut and Thilo Glatzel for the fascinating lab tour, and to IngCH for the organization!
