International Day of Women and Girls in Science

February 11 is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The United Nations General Assembly established this day eight years ago to draw attention to the crucial role that girls and women play in science and technology.

In the SNI network as well, numerous women study and conduct research. We would be delighted if there were even more!

Today, we are therefore launching a series of short videos in which women from the SNI network introduce themselves. Maybe this helps to encourage some girls to study one of the exciting natural sciences and pursue a career in research.

We start this series, in which we post a video once a month, with physics professor Andrea Hofmann from the Department of Physics at the University of Basel. See for yourself how much fun research can be and how varied Andrea's everyday life is!
