How do I manage my studies? What’s next for my master’s degree? How do I figure out what I want to do after graduation? And how do I prepare for it?

Many questions that everyone answers in their own unique way. The board of the AlumniNano organization has now launched the new event “n3: Nano – Now & Next” to support nanoscience students in finding their own individual – and not always easy – answers to these questions.

“n3: Nano – Now & Next” took place for the first time on May 20 and was a complete success!

Several NanoAlumi shared their very personal, not always straightforward career paths, offering insight into the many opportunities a degree in nanoscience provides. The speakers all invested a great deal of time in preparing their talks to bring their experiences as close as possible to the students and offer valuable tips.

Dr. Michael Gerspach, for example, focused on the period of study, which sometimes has challenging phases. Prof. Dr. Géraldine Guex provided valuable insights into how to find the ideal place for a doctoral thesis and emphasized, for example, that maintaining a balance with one’s personal life is also of great importance. Before all participants continued discussing potential careers and opportunities over drinks, various alumni from industry presented current internship and part-time job opportunities at their companies for students.

We would like to thank Alexa Dani, Timon Flathmann, Gregory Zaugg, and Milan Liepelt for this great initiative. With excellent preparation and great attention to detail, you have created a new format that offers nanoscience students valuable input for their studies and their future.
