Exciting presentations on current Nano-Argovia projects are a key element during the NanoTec Apéro.

Yesterday, this year's NanoTec Apéro took place at our long-standing industrial partner Straumann Institut AG in Basel.

First, Dr. Raphael Wagner, a former Nano student and now head of the Surface Competence Center at Institut Straumann, gave participants exciting insights into the work and history of the company, which has been a partner in Nano-Argovia projects for many years.

After SNI director Prof. Dr. Martino Poggio had welcomed the approximately 50 guests, three researchers presented current Nano-Argovia projects in collaboration with various companies from the region.

  • Dr. Nadja Rohr (UZB) presented the ZIRYT project, in which ceramic dental implants with different surfaces are being investigated.
  • Prof. Dr. Patrick Shagaldian (FHNW) reported on the NANOdePET project, which is dedicated to a sustainable, enzyme-based method for degrading PET plastics.
  • Dr. Romy Marek (FHNW) provided fascinating insights into the research being conducted in the NanoPED project on self-degrading implants that are nevertheless stable enough to be used in the skull area of newborns.

Following the presentations, the poster session provided an opportunity to learn about other projects and talk about science with the other participants – in some cases also about the tour of the Straumann Institute that had been offered at the beginning of the event.

A big thank you to Raphael Wager as host and to everyone involved for the inspiring contributions and stimulating discussions!
