National Future Day 2025 – A day full of energy, light, and nanostructures

Image of the activties during the National Future Day 2025

Our visitors participated enthusiastically and with great fun in the activities planned for the National Future Day 2025, learning a great deal about physics and nanotechnology.

Today, on the National Future Day, the Swiss Nanoscience Institute (SNI), the Department of Physics and the Basel Quantum Center (BQC) opened the doors to 20 girls aged 10 to 13.

A varied program offered the participants exciting insights into the world of physics, quantum and nanoscience:
They learned fascinating facts about energy, experimented with the wondrous properties of light and nanostructures, soldered their own game of skill, and gained insights into the workshops. The program also included a tour around the clean room, where nanostructures are manufactured in a particularly clean environment. Finally, the young researchers experimented with water to learn more about filtration and clean drinking water in a playful way.

A big thank you to everyone who enthusiastically took part in this insight into our research, and to everyone at SNI, the Department of Physics, and BQC who made this exciting day possible!
