World Quantum Day 2025 – Where Quantum Science Meets Nanoscience
To mark World Quantum Day on April 14 in the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, researchers from the Department of Physics at the University of Basel share insights into their work in quantum science. In this video, researchers from the Department of Physics at the University of Basel explain the areas of quantum science in which they work and why this research would not be possible without nanoscience and nanotechnology.
Whether individual electrons, spins, phonons or photons – the phenomena of the quantum world unfold on the nanoscale. This is why progress in nanoscience is not only helpful, but a fundamental prerequisite for modern quantum research. The video makes it clear: quantum science and nanoscience go hand in hand.
